Basketball has been a mainstay of the Canada Games since the inaugural Games in Quebec City in 1967. Initially part of the winter program, basketball moved to the summer edition in 1989 and has been a featured sport in every Summer Games since then.
Notable Canada Games alumni include Steve Nash, Bridget Carleton, and Anthony Bennett.
