(St. John’s, NL - July 30, 2024) — The 2025 Canada Games Host Society is thrilled to announce Marine Atlantic as a Champion Partner and Journey Supporter of the Orangestore 2025 Canada Games Torch Relay. 

The Torch Relay will begin in June 2025 with a lighting ceremony at the Centennial Flame on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Marine Atlantic will then carry the Roly McLenahan Torch from North Sydney, Nova Scotia, to Port Aux Basques, Newfoundland, via ferry.

“Marine Atlantic will play a pivotal role in bringing the torch to our province and help kick off an eight-week celebration of sport, community, and bringing people together,” said Kim Keating and Karl Smith, 2025 Canada Games Board Co-Chairs. “We are grateful to partners like Marine Atlantic who help make the 2025 Canada Games a success and support the next generation of amateur athletes in Canada.” 

During the torch’s journey, Marine Atlantic will host an onboard celebration with passengers before handing the torch off to over 100 torchbearers at stops across Newfoundland and Labrador. The relay will culminate at the Opening Ceremony on August 9, 2025.
